SURJ Toronto Open Meeting - Students Showing Up

  • OISE - Room 2289 252 Bloor Street West Toronto, M5S 1V6 (map)

Come out to our first open meeting to build ANTI-RACIST organizing at the University of Toronto and beyond! Everyone welcome!
We will meet Oct 9, 6-8pm at OISE 2289 (252 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1V6), close to the St. George subway station. Thanks to our sponsor in this work, OPIRG Toronto!

SURJ (Showing Up For Racial Justice) Toronto is committed to community organization, anti-racist education, and mobilization as part of a multiracial majority to undermine white supremacy in its many forms and work to support Indigenous sovereignty. This meeting will be facilitated by white people and is aimed mainly at moving more white people to support Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour-led organizing, but it is open for ANYONE to attend!

This meeting will take place on territory that has been lived on and cared for over thousands of years by the Huron-Wendat, the Petun, and Senecas, and most recently stewarded by the Mississaugas of the New Credit. This land is subject to the Dish with One Spoon Treaty between the Anishinaabe Nation and Haudenosaunee Confederacy to share the land. It has also been subject to the Two Row Wampum Belt Treaty between Dutch settlers and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
