Free Ebrahim Toure! Pack the Courts! End Detentions!

  • Osgoode Hall 130 Queen Street West Toronto, ON, M5H 2N5 Canada (map)

This is Ebrahim Toure’s fifth spring behind bars.
He is Canada’s longest-serving immigration prisoner. On May 23, join us as we show solidarity with Ebrahim and all migrants in their struggle for justice.

On May 23rd, Ebrahim will have been detained for 1,915 days. We are bringing tulips to the courthouse for Toure; bring one if you can! Please join us to demand freedom for Ebrahim, an end to immigration detention and deportations, and Status for All.

It is not only Ebrahim Toure's freedom that is at stake.

Last October, Ebrahim and his lawyers successfully fought to stop migrants from being locked up in maximum security jails (Ebrahim spent four and a half years in a maximum security jail in Lindsey, ON). Government lawyers are using his case to argue that maximum security is OK for immigration detainees, and to end the use of provincial courts to free them. Using the provincial courts has been the only mechanism that has allowed detainees to rejoin their families and communities. The government is trying to make this unjust detention system even harsher for migrants. We must fight this and show our strong support for Ebrahim and for all migrants caught in this violent system.
