🌼4 Ways to Push for Migrant Rights Now🌼
In this video seven undocumented people bravely speak out to share how a comprehensive regularization program would change their lives and the lives of half a million people across the country.
The Minister of Immigration promised that Federal Ministers would be discussing regularization (granting permanent status for undocumented people) this spring. It’s spring now and important decisions are being made. In a time when migrants are being scapegoated for the affordability crisis, it is crucial that Ministers hear from thousands of us to know there is broad support for regularization and #StatusForAll. This would lift half a million people out of poverty, helping to fund public services and increase workers’ rights.
Here’s how to take action for migrant rights:
🇵🇸 Commemorate 76 years of Nakba this Saturday May 11 🇵🇸
For the past 76 years, Israel and its Western allies have been attempting to destroy the will of the Palestinian people who have never stopped resisting their oppressors and fighting for their liberation. For the past 7 months, we have been witnessing the accelerated ethnic cleansing and genocide of people in Gaza and the ongoing resistance. This Nakba 76 March will gather people from across the GTA to demand:
An end to the genocide in Gaza
An immediate two-way arms embargo
The release of all Palestinian political prisoners
Immediate humanitarian aid and investment of relief efforts to help rebuild Gaza
An end to the Zionist occupation of Palestine
Meet at Grange Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 and march to the rally together.
📦 Unpacking White Masculinity: 4 Part Series 📦
This four-part workshop series will run Tuesdays in June: June 3, 10, 17, 24 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at University of Toronto (252 Bloor St W), Room Number TBA. The cost is $40 or pay-what-you-can.
The series will help white men explore how to address the crises gripping our society by unpacking the complex relationship(s) between social inequality, personal privilege, and political accountability. In a supportive and empowering group environment, participants will discuss how terms like “white supremacist, capitalist, cis-hetero-patriarchy” impact personal experiences of manhood, and much more. The workshops will be facilitated by Andrew Winchur (he/him), a Registered Psychotherapist, educator, writer, and activist with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Toronto. He has co-facilitated conversations on critical masculinity for the Parkdale Free School and served as a men’s counselor for Counterpoint Counseling and Educational Cooperative.
